Spain sets no fixed first-aider ratio: under Article 20 of Law 31/1995 (Ley de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales) the employer designates enough trained first-aiders from a risk assessment, with first-aid material required by Royal Decree 486/1997, Annex VI.
In Spain first aid is a compulsory 'Primeros auxilios' module of the Técnico Superior en Educación Infantil qualification (Royal Decree 1394/2007) that childcare educators must hold, with detailed 0-3 centre rules set by each autonomous community.
Spain imposes a legal duty to rescue: Articles 195-196 of the Criminal Code (Ley Orgánica 10/1995) punish failure to help a defenceless person in serious danger ('omisión del deber de socorro'), with no separate civil-liability shield for the volunteer rescuer.
In Spain nurses register with a provincial Colegio Oficial de Enfermería and, under Ley 44/2003, must keep their skills current through voluntary Continuing Professional Development (DPC); there is no mandatory revalidation or hour count, and resuscitation is in practice an employer requirement met by any recognized continuing-education activity.
In Spain residential centres for older and dependent people are staffed by care assistants (TCAE) whose official qualification (Real Decreto 546/1995) requires applying first aid, activating the cardiac-arrest protocol, giving basic life support (SVB) and using a defibrillator (DESA).
Foster care in Spain is governed by Organic Law 1/1996 (amended by Law 26/2015) and managed by the autonomous communities; no national article explicitly requires a first-aid certificate, but the mandatory pre-assessment training covers the child's care and safety and many programmes include or recommend first-aid and CPR training.
Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Spain: the regulation sets no mandatory content or duration, so theory may be completed online with the practical component assessed in person, leading to a 3-year certification.
